Abstract

1,086,226. Cavity gutters; flashing. P. B. SHILLABEER. May 2, 1966 [May 4, 1965], No. 18809/65. Addition to 1,007,225. Heading E1W. A cavity gutter or tray of liquid-impermeable material has an upturned lip 2, Fig. 1 and an upturned end wall 3 at two adjacent edges of a planar, portion 1, and a flashing 5 of pliable material at or near the edge of the planarportion opposite the upturned lip 2, the planar portion being adapted to be placed horizontally in the outer skin of a cavity wall W, Fig. 3, with the upturned lip within the cavity and the flushing outside the wall. In use a plurality of the cavity gutters would be in an overlapping formation to follow the shape of a lower roof R adjoining the wall, with the flashings 5 extending to that lower roof, as shown in Fig. 3. If the roof R is a ridge roof, a set of gutters having the end wall 3 at one end of the planar portion and a set of gutters having the end wall 3 at the opposite end of the planar portion are necessary. The cavity gutters may have two end walls 3. The planar portion 1, the lip 2 and wall 3 may be made of galvanised metal sheet and the flashing 5 of lead sheet. Plastics material may also be used.
