Abstract

1347985 Valves A WOBIG 6 Oct 1971 [8 Oct 1970 (2)] 46393/71 Heading F2V In a four-way valve, e.g. for heat exchangers of water heating installations, having a single two-way connection 1, Fig. 1, for attachment to a heat exchanger and two other connections 10, 11 for attachment to pipes, a double-acting cylindrical closure member 4 is axially-displaceable along a stationary guide sleeve 5 receiving one end of a supply pipe 6 of the heat exchanger. Displacement of the closure member 4 is effected by a regulator cap 7 via a clutch 16, spindle 17 and lever 24. A bimetal coil 23 may be provided as shown between the cap 7 and clutch 16 to provide automatic adjustment in accordance with temperature, the setting of the bimetal coil being adjusted by cap 7. An indicator comprising a pointer (29), Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown), movable by cap 7 and co-operating with a scale on casing 15, is associated with an adjustable stud (25) having an eccentric pin (26) engaging the pointer to adjust the basic setting of the pointer independently of the cap 7. Removal of cover 2 facilitates access to closure member 4 without removing the valve from the heat exchanger.
