Abstract

809,781. Heating buildings by circulation of water; temperature-responsive actuating - elements. C.U.R.A. PATENTS Ltd. March 7, 1956 [March 7, 1955], No. 6690/55. Class 64(2) [Also in Group XXIX] For circulating to radiators, water from a boiler B and water from a by-pass C are passed into a flow pipe F in proportions determined by a valve D operated by a servomotor E. K. J. controlled by a bellows H subject to the mixed flow temperature and communicating with a bulb G subject to the temperature outside the house. If the temperature outside rises sufficiently, a nozzle J is closed by the action of the cates solely with the low pressure side of E (because the bellows E then communia main circulating pump A through a pipe K) so that the valve D is raised to permit less hot water to flow from the boiler B. The resulting cooler mixed flow in the pipe F causes the bellows H to open the nozzle J and thus counteract the effect of the warming of the bulb G. Adjustment of the system is by an additional bellows in the thermal system G, H, or by a screw for moving the position of the nozzle J or of its closure plate. Instead of being located in the return pipe R from the radiators, the pump A may be in the mixed flow pipe F, Fig. 2 (not shown) and in this embodiment there is a pipe, with a manuallyoperated valve, by-passing the nozzle J so that the full boiler outflow may be passed to the radiators on starting.
