Abstract

1346368 Two part couplings ITT INDUSTRIES 28 Oct 1971 [30 Oct 1970] 50083/71 Heading H2E A hermaphroditic connector has a square thermoplastic housing 12 (Fig. 1) containing four contact-holding channels 44. A portion of the outer wall at the front of the housing is absent as shown to allow the connectors to be mated. Slots 56 extend from the rear of the channels for about half their length. The contacts (Fig. 2) are inserted from the rear, flanges on portions 102 fitting in the slots 56 and abutting the ends of the slots 56 to prevent forward movement. Springs 128 engage shoulders 72 (Fig. 6) to prevent rearward movement. The connectors are held in mated position by interlocking of angled portions 124 of the contacts. On one or both pairs of opposite sides of each housing projections 32 and slots 36 may be provided to allow the connectors to be stacked.
