Abstract

1368684 Two-part couplings BUNKER RAMO CORP 5 Jan 1972 [24 March 1971] 520/72 Heading H2E In a two-part coupling each part comprises a plurality of contact-carrying modules positioned end-to-end within a tubular mating portion of the shell or body of the part. A socket assembly 12 and a pin assembly 14 comprise a respective shell 16, 28 each housing a plurality of respective modules 20a (32a), which consist of a dielectric block formed with patterns of apertures 54 for receiving contacts 56, 58; the modules being retained in the shells by a respective back-plate 18, 30 secured to the shells. The modules have cleats 44 each defining a rib 46, a groove 48 and fins 50 which engage edges 70 of the shells and notched (66, 68) flanges 64 of the back plates. The shells are non-rectangular to ensure correct polarization and interfit each other with a friction fit. Some of the modules may be "blanks" without contact apertures.
