Abstract
1345280 Vehicle sliding doors E BODE [trading as GEBR BODE & CO] 3 Sept 1971 [4 Sept 1970] 41214/71 Headings B7S and B7B A slidable door arrangement for use on a vehicle comprises a door 1, a rail 5 mountable on the vehicle outside wheel 16 and having a rectilinear main portion and an end portion 5a making an angle of substantially 135 degrees with the main portion, and a carriage 4 including a roller 4a, Fig. 3, mounted to be movable along the rail 5, the carriage being pivotally mounted on the door at 12, 13 so that when the door moves from a first position (shown in phantom line in Fig. 2) to a second position (shown in full lines) the roller 4a moves from the main portions of rail 5 to the end portion 5a. The invention is characterized in that in its fully open position, the door 1 overlaps the length of rail between the extreme location of the roller 4a on the rail. In order to enable it to negotiate the bend in the rail 5, the carriage 4 is pivotally connected to the door 1 by means of a U- shaped shackle 9 having shafts 12, 13 rotatably supported in projection 6, 7 on the door. The carriage has two rollers each supported on the rail 5 which is of C-shaped cross-section. The door 1 is provided with additional support by means of an upper roller 14 supported on a carrier 15 attached to the door.
