1278203 Wagon doors SOC NOUVELLE DES ATELIERS DE VENISSIEUX 9 Feb 1970 [12 Feb 1969] 6012/70 Heading B7L A system is provided for opening and closing sliding doors of a railway vehicle, a side wall of which has doors 12, 13 which slide by means of rollers 16, 17 respectively upon rails 18, 19 respectively, the rails 18, 19 being parallel to the wall and being secured by support members 20, 21 respectively to a rotatable shaft 22 so that the rails 18, 19 can be shifted, each by a different distance in a lateral direction outwardly of the side wall between a closed and an operable position by means of a rack sector 27 meshing with a pinion 28 mounted on a pivot 29. The doors 12, 13 lie in the plane of the side wall in the closed position and at different respective lateral distances from this plane in the operable position. The shaft 22 has a control lever 23 and the end of the lever 23 remote from the shaft 22 is pivoted to one end of a vertical rod 24 which is pivoted at its other end to one end of a shaft 26. The other end of the shaft 26 is rigidly secured to the rack 27. The doors 12, 13 have bottom bearing arms 32, 33 respectively which extend towards the vehicle interior and which terminate in bent ends 34, 35 respectively. The bent ends 34, 35 of the arms 32, 33 engage arms 36, 37 of a U-section slideway member 38 disposed on two levers 39 secured to a shaft 36. When a wheel 30 is rotated in a clockwise direction, as shown in Fig. 3, the shaft 26 and the member 38 are rotated and the shaft 22 and rails 18, 19 are rotated by way of the levers 25, 23 and rod 24. The arm 36 of the member 38 bears on an angle member 40 secured to the arm 32. When the levers 39 have rotated through a predetermined angle, the arm 37 of the member 38 bears on the bent end 35 of the arm 33 and separates the arm 33 from the side wall by a distance less than the distance by which the arm 32 has been separated from the side wall. The length of the levers 39 are such that the displacements of the arms 32, 33 by the arms 36, 37 are substantially equal to the displacements of the rails 18, 19 and the doors 12, 13 stay substantially vertical during sliding movement. Two support members 42, 43 are secured to slideway member 36 of member 38 and at the end of the closure movement the members 42, 43 bear on the angle member 40 of the arm 32 and on the arm 33 respectively to raise the two doors slightly so that the door weight is not carried permanently during travel by the top running tracks and by the vehicle roof 11.
