Abstract

1340134 Locks C ROSSETTI 19 April 1971 [10 April 1970] 25011/71 Heading E2A A barrel lock comprises a body having a bore accommodating a barrel a plurality of plungers housed in the barrel and displaceable axially by a key, and pins aligned with the plungers respectively and housed in the body, the pins engaging in the barrel so as to lock the barrel when the key is withdrawn, the plungers and pins being in contiguous succession within the barrel and in the body. The body comprises part bodies 2 secured to a central portion 3 by circlips 4 and each having a bore in which a barrel consisting of two parts 1 secured to the body by a circlip 6 is rotatable. The barrel has an opening 7 for a key and a cavity 12 for twelve contacting plungers 13 in two rows. A removable casing 17 is accommodated in a cavity in the body and houses twelve pins 18 aligned with the plungers 13 respectively and spring biassed to engage the plungers. Two plungers 13a and two pins 18a may have a different cross section from the others to increase the number of possible combinations. The plungers and pins are rectilinear in cross section and the heads may be rebated either laterally or longitudinally also to increase the number of possible combinations. Alternatively the plungers and pins are cylindrical and the body parts are connected to a central strap. The plungers and pins may be in one row and the removable casing 17 may be omitted.
