Abstract

1326119 Locks R N OLIVER and R C SPAIN 12 Oct 1971 [25 Jan 1971] 47430/71 Heading E2A The pin tumblers 17, 18, 19 of a barrel lock co-operate with a fence 27 carried in the barrel 21 and biassed outwardly across the shear face 25 into a slot in the housing 23 so that it can only move inwardly to release the barrel when the barrel tumbler portions are lifted and turned to the correct height and angle by the key bitting, so that holes 33, 34, 35, 37 or 39 are presented to receive studs 29, 30, 31 on the fence. At least one of the tumblers has, as shown, several holes so that a variety of keys may be used, and similarly, the tumblers are sectioned to allow shear by different authorised keys. The tumblers are loaded by spring drivers 17b, 18b and 19b. Appropriate bitting angles are indicated at 41, 42, 43 and heights at 11-16. The invention is a modification of that disclosed in Specification 1223142.
