Abstract
133,933. Ferranti, S. Z. de. Aug. 27, 1918. Transformers.-The coils are clamped by means of wedge members with a number of inclined surfaces at intervals along their lengths. In the transformer shown in Fig. 1, arched open-work girder members a have flanges b clamped against the straight side elements c, and adjustable studs d, with insulated heads e to grip the conductors. The wedge plates h, fare arranged between the straight parts of the conductors and the side elements c, the stationary plate f resting against the conductors g while the plates h rest against the side c and can be drawn in opposite directions by bolts and nuts i. In a modification, the wedge elements are formed in the meeting edges of two rings j, k, Fig. 6. A screw n works in lugs l, m to rotate the rings relatively to one another. Springs may be compressed under the bolts employed to keep the wedges in engagement. Three wedge plates may be employed, only the centre one being movable. Specification 133,727 is referred to.
