Abstract

113,568. Khisanachvili, G. Aug. 7, 1917. Magnetic work-holders.-A magnetic chuck or table B for holding pieces of iron or steel during grinding, planing, and like operations comprises a number of plates or bars d of iron alternating with similar plates or bars e of brass or other non-magnetic material. These plates may be brazed, soldered, welded, bolted, or otherwise assembled to form a block and are of a thickness corresponding to the size and pole distance of the magnetic table or chuck C on which the plates are to be used, the arrangement being such that the iron parts of the block fall on the magnetic poles of the table. The iron plates or bars thus form a continuation of the poles of the magnetic table. The surfaces of the blocks may be shaped to hold the pieces A to be operated upon, and several blocks may be combined without altering the pole pitch or magnetic distribution.
