Abstract

1338772 Rotary positive-displacement compressors TRW Inc 8 June 1971 [15 July 1970] 19473/71 Heading F1F In a vane-type compressor a rotor 30 is lodged in a cylindrical chamber defined by end caps 13, 16 and a member 18, which are pivotally interconnected by pins 62 and clamped by bolts 17. The pins 62 facilitate adjustment of the member 18 relative to the rotor (when the bolts have been slackened) so as to minimize leakage at the axially-extending line of tangency 48 between exit and inlet ports 49, 50. A pressure-loaded seal 48a may be provided at said line. A tubular locking-member 68 with knife edges 70, 71 fixes the end caps and member 18 relative to one another when the bolts are tightened. The rotor is secured to a shaft 22 carried by bearings 20, 23. The vanes 37 have shoes 38. Pins 42 and springs 43 inter-connect diametrally-opposed vanes.
