1333440 Trainable processors TEXAS INSTRUMENTS Inc 15 Dec 1970 [30 Dec 1969] 20211/73 Divided out of 1333439 Heading G4R The description relates to a trainable data processor as described in the Specification 1,333,439. The claims are directed to a trainable processor, and to a method of training it, in which training signals comprising input signals u and corresponding desired output signals Z are quantized. Response functions are generated for each new combination of u and Z, and the functions are stored in a tree storage array in a random access memory. Each response function is accompanied by a number indicating the number of times that the corresponding combination of u and Z has been encountered. The storage locations of the functions in a given filial set of functions are interchanged during operation to maintain the locations in descending order of said numbers.
