Abstract

1332778 Sewing machine NECCHI SpA 28 April 1972 [22 June 1971] 19829/72 Heading D1G A sewing machine for making welted pockets comprises a work plate (25, Fig. 2 not shown) slidable along a predetermined path in the bed 11, a work clamp 28 mounted on the work plate for fastening a piece of main fabric thereto, a centre blade 31 and two side pressers 30, 30' for folding a fabric patch and clamping the latter on to the main fabric and linkages for moving the side pressers transversely to the blade, the linkages each including a lever arm 51 adjustable in effective length to select the side presser stroke. As shown the lever arms 51 have arcuate slots 50 each engaged by bull ended rods 47 connected to one arm (45, Fig. 2 not shown) of a bell crank lever 43 the other arm 44 of which carries a rod 38 engaging a groove (37) in a block 35 connected by members 33, 32 to a respective presser member. The centre of each slot is chosen to coincide with ball joints 46 when the side pressers are in their inner position which thus remains unvaried when the connections at 72 are moved along the slot 50 to vary the side presser stroke. The arrangement of the folding device is disclosed in Specification 1277517; the present application describes a pneumatically operated system (Fig. 3 not shown) which controls cylinder 61 operating linkage 60-51 actuating the side pressers and cylinder 75 which operates linkings 76-82 raising and lowering the centre blade 31.
