Abstract

1405766 Raising presser bars SINGER CO 12 Dec 1972 [30 June 1972] 57271/72 Heading D1G A device actuated by the operators knee to raise the presser foot of a sewing machine comprises a pad 55 connected to a carriage 25 movable linearly along a track 15 and connected to a rock shaft 42 disposed transversely to the track, the rock shaft being connectable to mechanism 61, 62 for raising the presser foot 63. As shown the carriage supports a cam member 33 engaged by a follower 47 on the end of an arm 48 secured to the shaft 42. The carriage and track are provided with rollers 28, 19 and stops 30, 21. In a modification (Fig. 5 not shown) the connection is achieved by a two part rod (66, 68), of adjustable length, pivoted at its ends to the carriage and to a rod (69) secured to the rock shaft.
