1277517 Sewing-machines NECCHI SpA 28 July 1970-[30 July 1969] 36476/70 Heading D1G A sewing machine for making welted pockets comprises a work plate 30 slidably mounted on a bed member 1 pneumatic means Cs and hydraulic fluid control cylinder Co for moving the work plate longitudinally of the bed, a work clamp 32 movable with the work plate with a pneumatic cylinder Ct for operating the same, a presser member 62 for holding a fabric patch on to the fabric held by the clamp 32 and folding members 43, a pneumatic cylinder Cp for operating the presser 62 and allowing the folding members 43 to operate by means of a cam, and a pair of needles 15 for sewing the patch to the fabric by a double line of stitching. In order to make a welted pocket a piece of base fabric is placed on the table 30 and held down by clamp 32. A piece of patch fabric is then placed on the work clamp and folded by members 43 against the centre presser or blade 62. The side folding members 43 follow the movement of the work plate since their pivot point is attached thereto. The blade 62 has an inverted 'T' shaped cross section and is fixed relative to the needle position. The patch fabric is folded about the presser blade 62 in the shape of an inverted T. As the work plate fabric clamp and folders move along the bed of the machine a cutter 72 which moves vertically with the needles slits the fabric between the lines of stitching. After cutting and stitching the work plate continues its movement until patch turners 112 and tab slit cutters 111 are positioned below the work piece. The tab slit cutters 111 move upwardly to make two cuts each having a 'V' shape which joins the end of the previous cut to the ends of the lines of stitching. On retraction of the cutters the tabs thus produced are folded inwardly. The control cylinder Co determines the movement of the pneumatic drive cylinder Cs by means of a rotary valve T whose rotation is caused by means of machine shaft 10. The valve T is in series with a reducing control valve R3 and a parallel circuit containing in one branch a reducing valve R2 and in the second branch a pilot valve Wo. (For Figures see next page)
