Abstract

1331801 Pipe couplings M CHAMPAGNE and J RICHARD 30 April 1971 [1 May 1970] 12404/71 Heading F2G [Also in Division A5] An extension unit 10, Fig. 1, for mounting between five hose 12 and nozzle 14 comprises manually portable tube 16 secured at end 16a to hose 12 by swivel coupling 18 and at end 16b to nozzle 14 by a further swivel coupling consisting of U-shaped member 22, pipe section 24, hand lever 38 pivotally mounted near end 16a of tube 16, and link rod 48 interconnecting 38 and pipe 24, swivel coupling 18 allowing rotation of tube 16 about its longitudinal axis, relative to hose 12, and the other coupling allowing pipe 24 carrying nozzle 14 to be rotated about an axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the tube, so that nozzle 14 can be remotely directed by manual operation of lever 38. The swivel coupling to the nozzle, Fig. 3, consists of U-shaped member 22 with arms 26, 28, and pipe section 24 pivotally mounted therebetween by means of members 33, 34 threadedly engaged within arms 28, 26, the coupling providing liquid passageways 30, 32 between the tube and nozzle (Fig. 4).
