Abstract

The two jib booms are tubular and are secured on opposite sides of the mast by a rod, bent in the middle, passing through the mast and threaded at both ends, the latter pointing in the desired directions for the booms (2). Fittings screw onto the ends of the rod, and are inserted in the boom ends and locked in position. Each fitting has a shoulder supporting the end of its respective boom, so that the compression force exerted on the boom is transmitted to it. A sleeve of flexible material can be fitted on the rod end, its external diameter being equal to the diameter of the opening for the rod on the fitting.
