Abstract

1330238 Reciprocating pumps MEC-OMATIC CO 16 Dec 1971 [28 Dec 1970] 58480/71 Heading F1A A pump for pumping small quantities of liquids, e.g. chemicals for water treatment, comprises a first pumping chamber 18 through which liquid is pumped, via check valves 34, 39 by a diaphragm 24 or a piston (120), Fig.4 (not shown), and a second pumping chamber 19 in which a plunger 22 is reciprocated, liquid entering chamber 19 from chamber 18 on retraction of plunger 22, and being discharged via O-ring check valve 45 on the forward stroke. The closing bias on valve 45 is greater than that on valve 39. Member 50 defining chamber 19 is axially adjustable by knob 55, carrying scale 59, to vary the effective stroke of plunger 22, and hence the output from chamber 19. In Fig.4 (not shown), the second pumping chamber is defined in the piston (120) operating in the first pumping chamber, and reciprocates relative to a fixed plunger (123) with a check valve controlled delivery passage, the fixed plunger being on an axially adjustable member (150) for adjusting the effective stroke. Gases entering pumping chamber 18 are returned to reservoir 12.
