1329166 Packaging APPARATENBOUW MOBANV 1 July 1971 [1 July 1970] 30786/71 Heading B8C [Also in Division F2] A device for successively discharging objects from holders moving one after another along a predetermined path comprises rails 1, 2 for guiding rows of holders, not shown, each having a catch for discharging one, or more, objects carried thereby; a number of gravity-controlled latches 4 1 -4 6 which are swingably mounted on a stationary shaft 3 and each has a control wheel 7 and an arm 5 which tends to swing anti-clockwise and which is adapted to cooperate with a stopping surface 11 in a corresponding notch 10, a series of which are formed in a control cylinder 8. The stopping surfaces 11 are equi-angularly spaced. The cylinder 8 which carries a corresponding number of equi-angularly spaced discharge abutments 12 1 -12 6 , is used to rotate clockwise under the influence of a weight 14 and cord 13 and, since the abutment surfaces 11 are successively offset radially in the opposite direction to that of the cylinder 8, only the latch 4 1 is operatively engaged with its abutment 11 when the cylinder 8 is fully wound. As holders pass down the rails 1, 2 the latches 4 1 -4 6 are successively tripped, but only the one which is in positive engagement with its stopping surface 11, initially the latch 4 1 , is operative to release the drum 8 for clockwise rotation until the next latch, in this case 4 2 , is brought into abutment with its stopping surface 11. The abutment 12 1 makes contact with the discharge catch of the first holder adjacent latch 4 1 to release the object, or objects, carried thereby immediately after the latch 4 2 engages its stopping surface 11. The latches 4 2 -4 6 , which become operative one after another as the drum 8 correspondingly unwinds step-by-step, are released in turn from their abutments 11, the associated abutments 12 2 -12 6 correspondingly successively releasing the objects carried by the holders. The drum 8 is then rewound by a drive shaft 36 which is driven by a one-revolution clutch (32), Figs. 7, 8, not shown, and which is connected by a cam 55 and link mechanism 61-64 to a rotary shaft 9 which fixedly carries the drum 8.
