1327701 Inking apparatus E A TIMSON 28 April 1972 [13 April 1971] 9196/71 Heading B6C Patterning of the ink on a forme roller 7 is eliminated by action of one or more smoothing rollers S<SP>1</SP>, S<SP>2</SP>, S<SP>3</SP>, located on that side of the forme roller which moves away from an inked printing surface 5. An additional roller 13 may be interposed between the one smoothing roller S<SP>3</SP> and a roller 4 of the train supplying the forme roller, so that ink reaches the forme roller from the roller 4 both directly and by way of the rollers 13 and S<SP>3</SP>.
