1327304 Ventilating; fume cupboards GRUNDY EQUIPMENT Ltd 22 March 1972 [26 March 1971] 7973/71 Headings F4V and F4X A ventilating system for an enclosure, such as a fume cupboard, having an opening through which an operator can carry out work, comprises an air inlet on one side of the opening and an air outlet on the other side of the opening. Air is drawn in by a fan and passed through a filter A into a positive plenum chamber B and into the enclosure D via laminar flow filter C. Air is extracted from the enclosure D by air outlet means comprising a uniform velocity extraction unit G into a negative plenum chamber H by an exhaust fan. The input and extraction rates are controlled to give a laminar flow of air in the enclosure D. A curtain of air may be provided across the opening of the enclosure.
