Abstract

1,198,920. Removing dust &c. in industrial processes. MECAPLEX S.A. 10 April, 1968 [14 April, 1967], No. 17140/68. Heading F4X. In apparatus for keeping clean the atmosphere surrounding a working area 4 and comprising a housing 1 incorporating a horizontal perforate plate 2 serving as a work table, gas from an inlet 16 is directed by a blower 6 downwardly through filter elements 7 and a perforated plate 8 to the work area 4 wherein it flows horizontally across the work table and out through the front of the housing 1. The inlet 16 is situated in a gasreturn conduit 13 and carries a double-acting pivotally-mounted valve 17 which may close either the inlet 16 or the conduit 13. A prefiltering element 18 is located adjacent the inlet 16 and a damper 15 is located in the conduit 13 below part of the work-table. In an alternative operating condition (Fig. 2, not shown) wherein the front of the housing is closed by a glass shield (19) provided with glove ports and the gas-supply inlet 16 closed by the valve 17, a recirculating gas system is set up; the recirculating gas in this case may be air in combination with an inert gas. The apparatus may be used with the valve 17 in an intermediate position (Fig. 3, not shown) wherein fresh gas is admixed with recirculated gas.
