Abstract

1326660 Suction pipes; jet-excavating means BAGGERMAATSCHAPPIJ BOS & KALIS BV 13 Sept 1971 [14 Sept 1970] 42620/71 Heading E1F Associated with a suction pipe 1 having a suction mouth provided with a stop valve 2 are water-supplying means that are so connected to the stop valve as to direct jets of water into the suction pipe when the pipe is closed or, as the valve is opened, to direct an increasing volume of the total volume of jetted volume of water to in front of the mouth of the suction pipe. The water may be supplied by flexible hoses but is preferably supplied through one or a pair of rigid conduits 5, 6 coupled to hollow bosses for the valve, the bosses leading to one or a pair of chambers in the valve structure. Nozzles 12, 10 deliver water from the chambers. The valve and the mouth of the pipe are coated with a wear resistant material, e.g. rubber. Preferably high pressure water is fed to pipe 6 and low pressure water is supplied to pipe 5. (For Figures see next page)
