Abstract

1,106,798. Anchor bolts. OLIN MATHIESON CHEMICAL CORPORATION. 3 Sept., 1965, No. 37707/65. Heading F2H. An anchorage device comprises a bolt 1 screwthreaded at its outer end and provided at its inner end with an enlarged truncated conical end 4 forming a wedge surface, an expansible sleeve 5 of tubular form surrounding the bolt and slit longitudinally along the full length, and/or one or more places for only a part of its length, to permit expansion, and a nut 7, fitted on the outer end of the bolt, so that when the bolt and sleeve are inserted in a hole and the nut is tightened, the wedge is drawn into the sleeve causing it to expand and grip the inner wall of the hole. The sleeve may be made from flat sheet and rolled to tubular form, and have apertures 13 in the shorter slits enabling a firmer grip to be obtained when the sleeve is expanded.
