Abstract
1319845 Closure caps OWENS-ILLINOIS Inc 3 Nov 1970 52113/70 Heading B8T A closure cap comprises a panel 14 and a skirt 15. Continuous score lines 19, 20 define a tear strip 18, tearing being facilitated by a pull ring 22 joined to the strip 18 at a hollow rivet 23 which is flattened thereby providing a retaining shoulder 25. One of the diverging score lines 19 extends into the skirt and, together with a score line 21, facilitates complete removal of the cap. An annular sealing ring 17 effects liquid sealing. In a modification, a slit (26), (Fig. 6, not shown), aids the initial tearing along the score lines 19, the seal means (17) being a disc. In a further modification a collar portion (26), (Fig. 7, not shown), aids retainment of the pull ring 22 in position under the shoulder 25 of the rivet 23.
