Abstract

1316093 Pistons R C CLERK 9 June 1970 [25 April 1969] 21244/69 Heading F2T An hydraulic piston for a pump or motor has a crown formed as a conical or frusto-conical projection 8 the base of which runs into an annular depression 9 just inside the rim of the crown. The construction prevents shock-waves from impinging directly on the cylinder bore. When the projection is made frusto-conical a porous sintered plug 10 may be fitted and retained by a hollow screw 11, the plug serving both for shock-wave damping and for directing lubricating fluid to the bearings of a rod 4.
