Abstract

1,167,008. Pistons. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG A.G. 22 Sept., 1967 [7 Oct., 1966], No. 43346/67. Heading F2T. A trunk piston is provided with one or more upwardly acting scraper rings 5, 6 for conveying oil on to the cylinder wall in the region of the wall contacted by the upper piston rings 11 at the top of their stroke and one or more downwardly-acting scraper rings 7, 8 for conveying surplus oil to an oil-collecting groove 9 having bores 10, 17 leading into the interior of the piston. An oil-cooling splash chamber 12 communicates through bores 17 with the oil-collecting groove 9.
