Abstract

1314953 Needling apparatus OSKAR DILO KG 19 April 1971 [28 March 1970] 23826/71 Heading D1R Apparatus for needling a roving or slubbing to a non-woven fibrous web comprises a roving or slubbing sleeve guide which passes through a reciprocable needle support and which has one end close to the web path, and means for holding the sleeve fixed while support is reciprocated. As shown, sleeve 12 guides roving or slubbing 17 through needle support 1, the sleeve being held by carrier 13 supporting spindle 14 which is slidably mounted in frame 19. Springs 15 bias carrier 13 and sleeve 12 to an operating position, and allow the sleeve to be moved nearer to the bobbin to facilitate the insertion of roving or slubbing in the sleeve. Roving or slubbing 17 is needled to web 18 by needles 8 which are mounted on head 7 of needle support 1. Head 7 may be of circular or oval shape. Two or more apparatusses may be mounted on a frame movable by conventional patterning means to produce patterns of rovings or slubbings needled on the web.
