Abstract

1310576 Heat treatment of textile webs ARTOS DR ING MEIER-WINDHORST KG 16 March 1970 [19 March 1969] 12464/70 Heading F4G Apparatus for the heat treatment of a textile web of the type having a pile comprises a tentering machine whose chains 18 guide the web 10 with its pile upwards over a chamber 19 into which a treatment medium, e.g. hot air is introduced through a plurality of nozzles 21, the hot air being blown through the web in a direction opposite to the weight of the web 10 when passing over the nozzles 21, the web 10 being supported by the treatment medium. To reinforce the heat treatment air is also blown down on to the web 10, and the pressure in the chamber 19 can also be regulated by a throttle valve 26 in an exhaust pipe 25. In a further embodiment, Fig. 3, the web 10 is drawn over stationary cylinders 13 in whose upper surface are outlets 12 for the hot air, the web being supported by the air when passing over the cylinders 13 and being driven by rollers 16 located below and between the cylinders 13. Alternatively the web 10 may hang freely between the cylinders (13), Fig. 4 (not shown).
