Abstract

1295729 Treating textiles RIGGS & LOMBARD Inc 2 Dec 1970 [2 Dec 1969] 57207/70 Heading D1L A textile treating apparatus conveys the material to be treated on a conveyor apron 24 around rollers 38 and 40 in the embodiment shown, in a bath of solvent, past a spray nozzle 52, under a stream of solvent from an inclined puddling board 62 through a pair of nip rolls 58 and 60 and around heated drying cans 74, at least one of which is driven. A second conveyor apron 26 may also be employed, the material being sandwiched between the two aprons. Condensers for reclaiming evaporated solvent, purifying it and returning it to the bath are also employed. Within the solvent impellers 44 help to circulate it around the material web. A further embodiment has a corrugated drum in the bath which has smaller nip rolls meshing with the corrugations. This embodiment also has the material sandwiched only in the bath. The material may be knitted.
