Abstract

1307567 Indicating apparatus; moving coil electric meters GENERAL ELECTRIC Co 12 May 1970 [13 May 1969] 22931/70 Headings G1J G1Q The ends of a taut band 44 by which the armature 28, 30 of a moving coil electric meter is suspended are secured to tabs 58, 72 on inner and outer anchors 40, 42 respectively, the tabs being aligned with, and the band 44 being secured to the tabs along, the axis of armature rotation. The tabs are plated, and the band is secured to them both by clamping and as a result of heating under pressure which causes the plating on the tabs to flow around the band. The inner anchor 40, Fig. 4, comprises a plate secured by tags 46 to the coil former 28 and including projections 50, 48, 52, to or on which the pointer is secured, the coil end connected and balance weights carried respectively. The outer anchor 42 and a further plate 75 are secured to the meter frame 18 by a bushing 60, which also serves to limit displacement of the armature due to shock. The further plate 75 includes a tab 76, to which electrical connection may be made, and also enables the zero of the instrument to be adjusted. The magnet of the meter is disposed inside the moving coil 30.
