Abstract

1306103 Pipe couplings; joint-making packing TREFIMETAUX GP 11 Feb 1970 [13 Feb 1969] 6485/70 Headings F2B and F2G Two rings d 1 , d 2 of synthetic plastics are joined together to form a trapezoidal groove e, containing an approximately triangular crosssection gasket f with a flat base and a rounded apex. The resultant seal is used in a pipe joint as shown with the outer diameters of the rings d 1 , d 2 attached to the inside of the outer pipe a1. The seals may be utilized at each end of an external sleeve surrounding two pipes, Fig. 5 (not shown), or be adapted with the gasket f sealing against the outer pipe al, Fig. 4 (not shown). The rings d 1 , d 2 are of polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, or acrylonitrile-butadienestyrene, and the gasket f is of synthetic rubber.
