Abstract

1304323 Combination locks; safes H Y E McMARTIN 7 June 1971 [9 Nov 1970] 19198/71 Headings E1A and E2A A personal safe 10 for installation in an hotel room comprises a door 12 providing access to the safe, a drawbar 13 carried by the door and being movable between locked and unlocked positions, a re-settable combination lock 17 mounted on the door and which engages with and secures the drawbar in the locked position, and key-operated means for controlling setting of the lock and being accessible from the front of the door and operable only when the drawbar is in the unlocked position. As shown, the lock 17 is controlled by a lever 18 engageable with the drawbar to prevent movement thereof in the unlocked condition; the lock has dials which are set by depressing or moving a setting pin 17b and is effected by the sliding of a frame 17c connected to a lever 19 carried by a shaft 19a, the latter having a slot 20 to receive a key whereby the shaft is turnable to move the frame to the left, as seen in the figures, to depress the pin 17b. The key slot 21 is aligned with an opening 22 in the door only when the drawbar 13 is in the unlocked condition thereof.
