Abstract

Feed-water, supplying and controlling.-Relates to a condensing plant for steam-turbine propelled vessels, shown in plan in Fig. 1, comprising a condenser c, a steam or water jet ejector c withdrawing air from the condenser, and a steamdriven boiler-feed pump p withdrawing condensate from the condenser and discharging it direct to the boiler, the supply of actuating steam to the pump p being controlled by the water-level in a float-box f in free communication with the condenser. In accordance with the invention, the air ejector e discharges either through a pipe y to the feed tank or through a pipe z to the circulating-water discharge d. A reciprocating feedpump p driven by a reciprocating steam-engine f is preferred; a rotary feed-pump driven by a steam-turbine which exhausts into the main turbine may be used. The feed-pump is arranged below the condenser so that a gravity head is obtained. The circulating-water pump is driven by an independent steam engine.
