Abstract

193,048. Szikla, G. Feb. 9, 1922, [Convention date]. Feed-water, supplying.-To prevent corrosion in a steam boiler and engine plant caused by gases dissolved in the boiler feed-water, the gases, which enter water before reaching the delivery side of the pump drawing the condensate from the condenser, are removed by a separator placed on the delivery side of the pump. The separator 4 is placed as near as possible to the pressure chamber of the condensate delivery pump 1, and is fitted with an escape pipe in communication with the free atmosphere. The gas-freed water passes directly from the separator to the boiler feed-pump 6. A pipe 9 discharges the overflow from the separator into an equalizing tank 8 connected by a pipe 7 to the inlet of the feed-pump.
