Abstract
126,553. Latta, J. G. Sept. 3, 1918. Condenser systems.-The condensate and uncondensed gases are withdrawn from a condenser A<1> either separately or together by means of a steam or water jet ejector A, and are discharged together to a closed tank B at a higher level than the ejector and maintained at a higher pressure than that in the condenser, a steam or water jet ejector B<1> or other means being provided to withdraw the gases from the tank B, and a pump D<1> or other means being provided to withdraw the deserated water through a pipe D and to supply it to the boiler. The gases are discharged by the ejector B' to a surface feed-heater C', to a second condenser, or to the atmosphere. The water discharged by the pump D<1> may be led by a pipe D<2> to the feed-heater C<1> on its way to the boiler. The level in the tank B is maintained by means of a float valve E which admits water through a pipe G from a reserve feed tank G<1>. Excess of water is discharged from the tank B to the reserve tank G<1> either through a loaded non-return valve J leading water to the pipe G, or by discharging it by the pump D<1> through pipes D<2>, H, H' under control of a hand-regulated valve H<2>. Water is supplied to the ejector A through pipes H, K. In a modification, water is supplied to the ejector A by a separate pump, which is also used to withdraw excess water from the tank B under the control of a valve which is operated either by hand or by a float.
