Abstract

1303465 Scaffold towers; lattice towers MANNESMANN LEICHTBAU GmbH 11 Nov 1970 [12 Nov 1969 3 Sept 1970] 53628/70 Headings E1K and E1S A lattice tower is of polygonal plan form and consists of a number of rigid horizontal frames, e.g. 3 connected together by a number of vertical frames, e.g. 7, each tower section comprising one such frame 7 for each side of the tower, and each frame 7 having a vertical corner member 8 with two equi-length braces 9 extending from near one end of member 8 to an apex whereat the frame 7 is detachably secured to the mid-point of the corner member 8 of the adjacent frame 7. In the embodiment shown, a slotted sleeve 13 is fixed to braces 9, the sleeve carrying a captive wedge 15 which can engage a peripheral groove 11 of a sleeve 10 fixed to the member 8, from which extends a further brace 16. Tubular sleeves 2, each carrying two captive wedges 5, are fixed to each corner of each frame 3, and can receive the peripherally grooved ends of vertically-adjacent corner members 8 to lock them in position, when a horizontal frame 3 is provided between each tower section. Alternatively, only a top and a bottom frame 3 may be provided, vertically-adjacent frames 7 being coupled together simply by tubular sleeves such as 2 with locking wedges. Adjustable feet 17 and heads 19 are provided, the latter being laterally braced. The tower may have a triangular plan form, Fig. 2 (not shown). (For Figures see next page)
