Abstract

1302039 Inductively heated rollers TMM (RESEARCH) Ltd 9 Dec 1970 [15 Dec 1969] 61021/69 Heading H5H [Also in Divisions D1 and F2] An inductively heated roller 4 encloses a magnetic core member 6 with a circumferential recess 7 housing the electric coil 8 and a plurality of longitudinal slots 11 extending radially inwardly from its periphery to a position beyond the internal diameter of the coil so as to provide air gaps 12. The slots 11 serve to reduce local eddy currents in the core and provide passages for cooling air to flow through the core 6 and inside the coil 8. An impeller 13 creates circulation of cooling air within the roller. The heating control arrangement may be as in Specification 989,349.
