Abstract

916,966. Electromagnetic interaction pumps. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. July 17, 1959 [July 30, 1958], No. 24501/58. Class 35. An interaction pump comprises an annular duct 18 between ring-shaped cores 10, 11 carrying three-phase windings 16, 17 producing a field travelling round the duct. The cores are of steel strip wound on supports 12, 13 and clamped by rings 14, 15. The sides of the duct are faced with copper rings 19, 20 to complete the induced current path. The liquid may enter and leave the duct by ducts in the same plane and side-by-side, or one may be taken down through the centre of the device. The pumping duct may comprise several spirally or helically arranged turns. One or both of the cores may be wound.
