1301629 Titanium alloy. Powder metallurgy DEUTSCHE EDELSTAHLWERKE A G 24 Aug 1971 [22 Sept 1970] 39649/71 Headings C7A and C7D A sintered alloy composition comprises 10 to 60% by weight of one or more of the carbides of titanium, chromium and vanadium and 40 to 90% by weight of titanium or a titanium-based alloy. Examples are provided of alloys comprising, in weight per cent 70% titanium and 30% titanium carbide, or 25% titanium carbide together with 75% of a titanium base alloy of aluminium and vanadium, molybdenum or tin. The alloys have high wear resistance. Preparation of alloys The powdered carbide(s) and titanium or titanium alloy are ground together in an inert liquid to a grain size less than 5 microns, vacuum dried, compacted, and sintered in a protective gas atmosphere or a vacuum or temperatures between 1500 and 1600‹C.
