1300877 m-Alkyl-phenols UNION RHEINISCHE BRAUNKOHLEN KRAFTSTOFF AG 28 May 1971 [5 June 1970] 17787/71 Heading C2C m-Alkyl phenols are obtained in a continuous manner by catalytically alkylating a phenol or isomerizing an alkyl phenol at a temperature of from 200‹ to 380‹ C., in the presence of a synthetic aluminium silicate which has not been treated with an acid. Specified alkylating agents are alcohols and their ethers, and olefins. Examples are given for the preparation of ethyl and isopropyl phenols.
