1296953 Hose reel assemblies; taking up slack in flexible elements; masted lift trucks CLARK EQUIPMENT CO 26 April 1971 [1 June 1970] 11329/71 Headings B8B B8H and B8M A hose mounting assembly, especially for lift trucks, comprises two reels 70, 72 on a shaft 74, two fluid passages 112, 112<SP>1</SP> in the shaft 74 for communicating separately with a hose coupling 110, 110<SP>1</SP> on each reel, and a coil spring 90, 92 for each reel for urging the reels independently to wind on hose attached to the couplings to keep the hose in a taut condition. Each reel has inner and outer radial flanges 82, 80 attached by screws to a hub 76 which is rotatable on the shaft 74. An annular groove 114 is provided between the hub 76 and shaft 74, which groove communicates with the appropriate fluid passage 112 and hose coupling 110. Each coil spring 90, 92 is attached to the inner flange 82, 82<SP>1</SP> of the respective reel 70, 72 and is keyed at its inner end to a spacer member 106 between the reels 70, 72, which spacer member 106 is keyed to the shaft 74. The fluid passages 112, 1121 extend through the shaft 74 from one end to the other. One end of the passages 112, 112<SP>1</SP> is in communication with feed hoses 40, 42 respectively by means of a fixing bracket 132 having fluid ports. The other end of the passages 112, 112<SP>1</SP> are closed by means of a cover-plate 122. The bracket 132 and cover-plate 122 are interchangeable. The outer flange 80, 80<SP>1</SP> of each reel is provided with a hole for access to the hose coupling 110, 110<SP>1 </SP>respectively. In a preferred embodiment, a hose reel assembly as described above is mounted at each side of the upright of a conventional lift truck.
