Abstract
1293707 Centrifugal separator GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE STERKRADE AG 19 April 1971 [14 Feb 1970] 27207/71 Heading B2P A steam-water separator comprises a collector casing 2, a duct 1 extending within the casing and containing a swirler 8, 9 for imparting a rotary motion to wet steam supplied through the duct from a steam generator, a guide 7 mounted on the upper edge of the duct for deflecting water centrifugally separated from the steam in the duct downwardly into the collector casing, and an array of staggered elongate members 3 of angled section providing a baffling device for removing residual water from the steam. The members 3 are closed at the top and bottom by covers, e.g. as shown at 4. Flow deflectors 6 are coaxially mounted at the top of the duct 1 to divide the escaping steam into three opproximately equal streams. The residual water runs down the members 3 and collects in the bottom of the casing which is provided with a water-seal trap 5. The dry steam passing radially outwards through the spaces between the members 3 collect into an annular space 10 from which it may be fed to a turbine.
