Abstract

1329875 Oil-water separator HOWALDTSWERKE-DEUTSCHE WERFT AG 20 May 1971 [29 May 1970] 16034/71 Heading BID Oil-water mixtures are separated by gravity within a housing 16 containing a plurality of chambers. Contaminated water is passed through line I into an expansion chamber 2 having a vapours outlet 3, and then via line 4 and distributor head 5 into the main body of the housing whence water flows downward around deflector plate 8 and through separation passages 11. Separated oil rises and passes through perforated plate 9 into oil collection chamber 10 from where it is removed. Purified water flows under baffle 17 and up over overflow baffle 18 and out via duct 19. The overflow edge of baffle 18 is suitably of arcuate shape (Fig. 2, not shown).
