Abstract

1289909 Feeding webs JAGENBERGWERKE AG 11 May 1970 [26 June 1969] 22664/70 Heading B8R A web 2 passes from a supply roll 1 over guide rollers 3, 4; over a spreader roller 51 through a slitter 6, 7; and over a further spreader roller 8 to a winding station consstituted by drive rollers 11 which support the winding rolls 9. The rolles 3, 4, 5 and 8 are driven by a motor 12 by way of a toothed belt 13, the arrangement being such that the peripheral speed of these rollers is less than the speed of travel of the web when the system is operating normally. The relative speeds are so chosen that air is entrained between the rollers and the web to form a friction-reducing air cushion.
