Abstract

1330286 Feeding webs OCE-VAN DER GRINTEN NV 19 April 1971 [10 March 1970] 23652/71 Heading B8R A storage roll 1 has its journals 3 mounted on friction blocks 4 of a movable support 5 which is provided with wheels 7, 8 guided in rails 9 and which is biased away from a pair of intermittently operated drive rollers 15, 16 by means of springs 11. Thus when the rollers 15, 16 are actuated intermittently to unwind web 14 from the roll 1 the support 5 moves to prevent an excessive buildup of tension in the web during the starting period and to take up any objectionable accumulation of the web during the stopping period. The support 5 may be in the form of a telescopic rail, and the springs 11 may be replaced by a counterweight and pulley system (Fig. 3, not shown).
