Abstract
1284727 Aerials C & S ANTENNAS Ltd 21 Oct 1969 [21 Oct 1968] 49922/68 Heading H4A A slot aerial has a feeder which is connected at a plurality of positions spaced along the slot. Alternatively, a feeder is connected continuously along at least one-eighth of the length of the slot. It is stated that the arrangements provide wide band operation. As described, a rectangular aperture 23, Fig. 3, is formed in a conductive sheet 21, and a smaller rectangular conductive piece 22 is located above the said aperture, and is offset towards one long side thereof. A strip feeder 30 is connected to the piece 22 by two spaced apart branches, and the said feeder and piece are mounted on an insulating substrate 31, Fig. 4. In a second embodiment, a co-axial feeder is connected to two paralleled coaxial feeders the inner conductors of which are connected to the inner rectangular member (22), Fig. 2 (not shown), of a folded slot at spaced apart points. The outer conductors of the coaxial feeders are connected to the conductive sheet (21) in which the rectangular aperture (23) of the slot is formed. In a third embodiment the leg 38, Fig. 5, of the inner member 37 of a folded T-shaped slot aerial is extended, and is connected to a feeder 40. The slot is thus fed continuously over the width of said leg. An arrangement is also described in which four slot aerials (45), Fig. 6 (not shown), having backing cavities (46), are arranged in a square, with the slots facing outwards. An omni-directional aerial may thereby be obtained.
