Abstract

1283205 Making fuel-injection nozzles GRIFFITHS FUEL INJECTION (DEVELOPMENT) Ltd 29 Sept 1970 [30 Sept 1969] 47884/69 Heading B3A [Also in Division F1] A fuel-injection nozzle is made by deforming a metal tube 10 so that portions 12 of its wall are compressed against one another and divide the tube into two or more passages 11 of tapered cross-section. The passages 11 may be arranged in a row or angularly disposed, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), or they may be angularly disposed about a central, or nearly-central, passage 11<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 5. The end ones of a row, or angularly disposed passages, may be of tear-drop, arrow or diamond cross-section, the intermediate ones of a row being of oval cross-section or tapering to points at the narrow ends. A stainless-steel tube may be used and deformed by pressing or rolling to form passages 11 of the same or different sizes in the same nozzle.
