Abstract

1279653 Gel carriers for photographic materials ITEK CORP 28 Aug 1969 [3 Sept 1968(2)] 42774/69 Heading G2C A gelable composition comprises a photoprocessing solution (which is a solution or dispersion used to process a photo-sensitive medium before or after exposure) and a heat-reversible gel-forming Cawageonan and/or Furcellaran as the only or principal gel-former(s). The gelformer is preferably 1-3% of the solution weight. The photo-precessing solution may be a colour or black-and-white developer, physical developer which may contain silver ions, developer-fixer, fixer. In Ex. 8 the photo-processing solution is an alkaline aqueous solution of formalin and ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid tetrasodium salt. These gel-formers are natural polysaccharides which are obtained from Red Seaweed. The gelled solutions have the properties of solids and allow completely dry processing of film.
